Memorial Day Weekend: Increased Unmarked State Police Patrols
The Rhode Island State Police will increase patrols along area highways throughout Memorial Day weekend. According to WPRI 12 and AAA Southern New England, the holiday weekend brings a 3.5% increase in motorists traveling more than 50 miles or more.
The ramped up RISP efforts will include extra troopers on duty in unmarked and low profile vehicles. Those police vehicles blend in with traffic. The “occupant safety initiative” is specifically designed to combat aggressive, drunk, and dangerous driving. Rhode Island State Police troopers will also be participating in the Click It or Ticket and Buckle Up America campaigns to reduce driving fatalities.
In short, wear your seat belt and drive safely this weekend.
Have a safe and happy holiday. And remember, if trouble finds you, call Callaghan & Callaghan (401) 294-4555.
